This apple strawberry smoothie is delicious, creamy, and refreshing! Naturally sweetened with fruits, it’s also healthy and nutritious. Ready with just 1 blender, 6 ingredients, and 5 minutes.
I’m totally into smoothies of any kind (hello, healthier milkshakes!). However, I’ve never thought I’d like an apple smoothie this much. Seriously. It’s so good!
Long story short: I always end up having way more apples at home than I can handle, so I make smoothies. One day, I wanted something that felt refreshing. I threw in some frozen strawberries (they go with pretty much anything), blended it all up with a few more ingredients, and voila! A new favorite was born.
This Apple Strawberry Smoothie is perfect for a quick breakfast, a snack, or on the go. It’s also a kid-friendly fruit smoothie. It’s also a delicious way to get your apple a day!

Ingredients you’ll need
- Apple: I like a large (or medium) fresh sweet-crisp apple for this smoothie, like Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji. There’s no need to peel the apple for this recipe (they contain vitamins, fiber, and nutrients). Still, I recommend cutting away the core and seeds.
- Frozen Strawberries: Use frozen strawberries for a thick, creamy smoothie. They also help sweeten the smoothie and add a vibrant color.
- Almond Butter: Natural almond butter adds healthy fats and makes the smoothie filling. Any nut or seed butter works, like peanut butter, cashew butter, or sunflower seed butter. Note that the flavor might change.
- Hemp Seeds: For a boost of healthy fats, omegas, and minerals. They also add fiber and protein. You can add flax or chia seeds instead. It’s optional but helps make the smoothie more filling.
- Ground Cinnamon: The addition of cinnamon brings a subtle but noticeable flavor that complements the overall natural sweet taste.
- Almond Milk: Unsweetened almond milk is one of my favorite liquid base for smoothies. It tastes great, it’s low in calories, and it’s available everywhere. You can use any milk of your choice. Use plant milk (oat, soy, cashew, coconut) to make this smoothie dairy-free and vegan if necessary. Soy milk is great for added protein. If you want to make this smoothie without milk of any kind, use water instead.

How to make apple strawberry smoothie
This Apple Strawberry Smoothie is very easy and quick to make.
First, you want to prepare the apple. Wash the fruit very well, dry it, and cut it into halves. Discard the core and seeds, and cut the apple into chunks. As I said before, you don’t need to peel apples to make smoothies. They add fiber and nutrients. (And, also, a beautiful color!)
Then you’re going to add the apple chunks and the other ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.

Tips & recipe notes
- Sometimes apples make the consistency of the smoothie pulpy, so make sure to blend well.
- It might seem like this recipe doesn’t call for enough liquid, but the apple will liquefy in the blender, so be patient. You can always add more liquid (milk or water) if you need to.
- If your smoothie is too thick, add more milk or water a few tablespoons at a time.
- If your smoothie is too thin, add more frozen strawberries.
- You do not need a high-dollar blender to make this smoothie. If you use a high-powered blender (like Vitamix or Blendtec), your smoothie will have a finer, more even consistency. But you can certainly make this recipe in a regular blender too. I usually use my Nutribullet for individual smoothies, and it works great.
Variations & additions
Make your apple strawberry smoothie unique by adding your preferred nutrient boosters and mix-ins. Here are some ideas:
- I made this apple strawberry smoothie without yogurt, but feel free to add some if you prefer, such as greek yogurt or soy yogurt for a dairy-free version.
- Want more nutrients? Try adding a handful of spinach or kale to it. The taste will be great, but note that the color will change.
- Easily add more protein to a smoothie by adding 1 scoop of your favorite protein powder, or even some greek yogurt or silken tofu.
- To make a smoothie thicker and creamier, you can add cauliflower rice (I swear you won’t taste it!), or frozen banana.
- I find this smoothie sweet enough, however, you can sweeten it up by adding maple syrup, honey, or pitted medjool dates.
- You can also add rolled oats for extra fiber.
FAQs
Fruit smoothies can be healthy, as they can provide a variety of nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, and fiber. However, it depends on the ingredients used in the smoothie and the amount of added sugars. This apple strawberry smoothie is a great addition to a healthy diet as it is made with whole fruits and there’s no added sugar in it.
Smoothies are best to enjoy as soon as they are made. If you can’t enjoy this apple strawberry smoothie straight away, keep it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Note that it’ll be less creamy and it’ll not taste so fresh.
Yes, smoothies can be frozen for longer storage. I recommend using an ice cube tray to make it easier to thaw when ready to consume. You can also blend the smoothie cubes with additional liquid (such as your preferred milk or water) so that you won’t need to wait for it to thaw.

- 1 tablespoon almond butter
- 1/2 tablespoon hemp seeds
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
